As a former teacher at the primary, intermediate, and middle school levels, Sampson knows how to engage kids and teachers, and his purpose-driven events are designed to inspire children to read books ―and write their own! Through a highly interactive, motivational format, Sampson shares his journey to becoming an author and delivers a presentation that includes:

Having worked with Martin for decades to provide annual educator workshops through Pathways to Literacy, Sampson helped train over 100,000 teachers in 30-plus locations around the country. Today, he brings his expertise to districts and schools through staff development sessions, and his educator enrichment events typically cover topics including:

  • RATES: Pricing varies depending upon event location and duration; submit your booking request to get rates for national and international appearances. Discounted rates are available for (1) multi-day bookings; (2) virtual bookings; (3) bookings located within 50 miles of New York City.

  • AUXILIARY EVENING EVENTS: In combination with a school visit, the author is also free for evening programs at libraries or schools. Evening programs for families of students who participate in school visits have proven highly successful and beneficial in encouraging caregiver engagement in the educational process.

  • MEDIA: If permitted per the protocols of the district/school, media coverage is encouraged, and video/audio recording and photography is welcome at the author’s school events; footage obtained may also be shared with other schools or school TV networks as applicable.

  • OTHER PROVISIONS: Housing for the author at a local hotel/motel must be provided for the duration of the booking. Though not required, an introductory dinner for the author and key staff members on the evening prior to the event is typical and beneficial.

  • AUXILIARY GUESTS: If permitted per the protocols of the district/school, caregivers of students are welcome at the author’s school events.

  • STUDENT PREPARATION: Preparing a class for a school visit is essential, and prior to the event, attendees should (1) get familiar with the author and his books; (2) discuss and establish questions to ask the author.

He has previously delivered keynote addresses for organizations including: New York State Association for the Education of Young Children, College Reading Association (CRA), McNeese State University Reading Conference, St. Pete Times Festival of Reading, and more.
